Alanna Mouhib

My name is Alanna Mouhib

About Me.

I offer prenatal check-ups at Dr. Wackernagel's gynecological office , ensuring that expecting parents receive comprehensive care in both German and English. Additionally, I provide postpartum care for new parents, offering guidance and assistance in both languages. For couples preparing for childbirth, I offer birth preparation classes, and I lead postpartum recovery sessions, all exclusively in English.

This provides me with the chance to collaborate with families from various countries, granting me intriguing insights into the diverse cultures and traditions related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care from all across the world.

Using this knowledge, my goal is to establish a supportive environment where you can begin your journey as a family feeling nurtured, informed, and empowered.

I was born in Ireland and moved to Germany with my family when I was 5 years old.

In 2019, I successfully completed my midwifery training at the Universitätsklinikum Halle/Saale and subsequently joined a wonderful team of midwives working in the delivery room at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Leipzig .

There I was able to gain valuable experience and insight into the wisdom of birth as well as supporting the challenges and joys that come with it.

In December 2020 my daughter was born, and I was able to experience the journey into parenthood from a new, more personal perspective.

Since January 2022, I have been working as a independent midwife here in Leipzig, accompanying women and couples in one of life's most significant phases. Helping them find a place for their newborn while dealing with the deep feelings, physical changes and new responsibilities that go hand in hand with deep and unconditional love.

My Services

Cost

The costs for midwifery care are covered by the German statutory health insurance in accordance with §134a SGB V.
In the case that you have private insurance conditions can vary. Please contact your insurance to find out what services they reimburse.

Expecting Couple

In my course, I guide parents through the last weeks of pregnancy to childbirth and postpartum, talking about a variety of topics:

  • preparing your home, body and relationship for the arrival of your newborn

  • Understanding the biomechanics and techniques that can increase the likelihood of a more comfortable and straightforward birth

  • how your partner can support you

  • navigating German bureaucracy and caregivers

  • Becoming a parent – from self care to mental load

  • postpartum joys and challenges and what resources you can use to make the exciting times ahead a little bit easier.

Prenatal class

PostnatalGymnastics Class

This course is not just designed to improve body awareness, involving various relaxation, stretching and breathing exercises. But also to connect with other mothers and share daily struggles and delights of motherhood.

I will teach you how to strengthen the pelvic floor, chest, shoulders, abdomen, legs and bottom. With targeted exercises, we can counteract symptoms such as stress incontinence, uterine prolapse or back and pelvic pain. Finishing off with a little meditation every class that will let you wind down your mind and body, shortly taking that break that not always is possible to find throughout the daily (and nightly) routine.

I would recommend to begin no earlier than 6-8 weeks and no later than 5 months after the birth.

The course includes 8 sessions, 75 minutes each. I recommend using this baby-free time to fully concentrate on your body. However, if you prefer attending with your child, that is also very welcome!

"Alanna was the best support with our first baby, not only by taking great care of us after birth but also with her offer of additional courses around pregnancy and after birth. She has a great and positive attitude and made feel relax and confident even during the hardest moments. We can only recommend her to any new parents."
